The Los Angeles Rams' high powered passing attack is grounded by a driving rainstorm. Tommy Thompson of the Eagles is able pass to Pete Pihos for a 31-yard touchdown midway through the second quarter. Late in the third period, the Rams' Bob Waterfield punts from his own 5, but the kick is blocked by Eagle rookie Ed Skladany. Skladany recovers on the 2 and runs it into the endzone for the only other score of the game. The Eagles' attack was led by a 196 yard rushing effort by Steve Van Buren on 31 carries, a championship record.
